Akshobhya means the Unshakable who represents the transmutation of delusion into mirror wisdom. This superb copper gilt bronze Akshobhya is a devotional yidam of great integrity and beauty. Sitting upright in full lotus posture on a lotus throne with the left hand in meditation position, and the right hand in the bhumisparsa mudra of calling the earth to witness. The Wisdom Buddha’s face is that of a handsome youth, snail curl hair is piled in a tall chignon, upper torso is bare except for a shoulder garment. True to the style of Gautama Buddha’s Kasaya monk robe, composed of discarded fabric stitched together to form three rectangular pieces of cloth. The statue incorporated with the unsurpassed artistry of Tibetan Buddhist sculpture; of which the design motifs are constructed in hot metal silver repousse overlay, hand traced into a diagonal woven lattice pattern, with eight intricate auspicious symbols illuminating the quiet elegance throughout the front and back. Well cast with traces of malachite, the eleven upturning lotus pedestal is elaborately embossed with foliate motifs, and overlaid with two stags flanking a flaming wisdom pearl in the backside; which is an auspicious symbol promising that all spiritual obstacles have been overcome and good fortune has arrived.
